Legendary Radio 1 DJ John Peel’s favorite band was undeniably The Fall. Between 1978 and 2004, they recorded an impressive 24 sessions for his long-running Peel show, a partnership tragically cut short by the DJ’s untimely death in October 2004. This album compiles 12 of the earliest tracks from that remarkable collaboration, showcasing Mark E. Smith’s band at their rawest and most uncompromising. From the high-speed energy of 'Container Drivers' and 'Industrial Estate' to the driving Krautrock groove of 'Rebellious Jukebox' and the chaotic, lurching rhythms of 'Mess of My,' these recordings capture their unique spirit. The superb BBC production ensures Smith’s distinctive vocals and enigmatic lyrics are crystal clear, while the experimental freedom of the sessions adds a layer of thrilling musical unpredictability.
